Ski Resort Mountain Safety Jobs

Most people looking to go and working in a ski resort for a season do so hoping to find a job that involves being on the mountain enjoying the snow all day rather than working away in the resort. Working in mountain safety is a great way to do just this, however with this type of position you are going to need to have a certain set of qualifications and have taken part in specific training so that you can work in this field.

There are a number of companies out there that offer training programs, similar to programs for individuals that want to be ski instructors. Specific regulations and requirements needed to fulfill any possible ski resort jobs in mountain safety vary from resort to resort and country to country.

If you are interested in working as part of the mountain safety team for a ski season we would recommend researching where exactly you would be interested in working, not necessarily the specific resort but certainly the country. Then start to look into what the requirements are to work as a ski resort mountain safety person in that country.

It is also worth noting that usually mountain safety teams require various staff members with different qualifications so even if you are not a fully qualified mountain safety expert there may be other positions within mountain safety that you can look to fill. At the very least we would recommend getting some formal first aid training in your home country.

Working in mountain safety can involve different aspects which include skier/snowboarder speed monitoring in slow ski areas, avalanche detection and prevention, aiding injured skiers and boarders off the mountain and inspecting mountain terrain before the day starts for any issues and after the day has concluded to ensure everyone is safely off the mountain.
