Best ski resorts for jobs in Japan

As we mentioned there are over 500 different resorts in Japan but many of these are small resorts which don't really offer a great destination for seasonal workers who are looking to spend time working in this country. Some of the best resorts to work at include;

For the best resorts and great snowfall you will want to consider the northern regions of Hokkaido and Tohoku, also the regions of Niigata and Nagano are popular and home to many great resorts which attract visitors from all over the world.

Niseko is one of the most well-known resorts in Japan and offer some fantastic skiing and boarding in an amazing setting. This resort is probably the most popular resort for overseas travelers and is a great option when looking for ski jobs in Japan as the many hotels, restaurants, bars and shops located in the resort are looking to employ English speaking staff to make guests feel at home and offer the best in quality service. This resort is particularly popular with visitors from Australia but does attract guests from all over the world.

Rusutsu Resort is an interesting resort, it offers skiing over three different mountains and in the summer months it operates as an amusement park with several roller coasters! From late November to April this resort offers great skiing and boarding with an excellent snow record. At the resort center you will find all kinds of hotels, bars and restaurants which are offering jobs during the winter months.

Zao Onsen is one of the oldest ski resorts in Japan and it offers a variety of terrain for different skill levels. The resort is relatively easy to access and is only a little over 30 minutes from Yamagata. In the resort you will be able to find work with various business connected to the travel industry, the resort offers affordable lodging for season workers and has a good nightlife and apres ski scene.

Shiga Kogen is the largest ski area in Japan with over 20 different resorts connected by more than 70 lifts. It has nice long runs and varied terrain for all levels, with lots of snow from November to April this is a fun area to work and there are certainly plenty of options with numerous hotels and tourist related businesses in the area.

Types of ski jobs in Japan

There are a variety of different jobs available at ski resorts in Japan. Most people will however end up finding employment at a hotel, restaurant, bar or other tourist related business. Most of the positions will be related to customer service and will require that you are extremely good at handling customers and being able to implement the high customer service standards Japanese businesses demand.

Other positions that do exist include working on the slopes as a lift operator, in this position you will assist people on and off the lift and ensure guests are following the various safety rules. If you are a qualified childcare professional then it is also possible to find jobs looking after children while their parents are out enjoying the slopes.
