Ski Season Chile - Winter Resort Jobs in The Andes

Ski Season in ChileWould you like to do a season in Chile? Are you available from June to October? If so then there are various opportunities to work in this exciting country.

Stretching almost the length of South America, Chile is a long narrow country with the South Pacific on one side and the Andes running down the eastern side.

There a a number of resorts in Chile and many of them a located within a relatively short distance of the countries capital, Santiago.

El Colorado is the largest and most popular ski area in Chile with more than 2000 skiable acres. The resort is one of the closest to the countries capital and is one of the best resorts to look for jobs if you are considering doing a ski season in Chile. This resort is part of the three valleys area which consists of El Colorado, Valle Nevado and La Parva. Together these three resorts offer a variety of terrain for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels.

Off the slopes you will find life in at a ski resort in Chile all about late nights and having a fun time. Once the skis or board has been packed away for the night that Latin culture comes out and resorts come to life. Most restaurants will not start getting busy until 10 or 11 in the evening and things will keep going until the small hours!

South of this region you will find several other resorts which can be good options when looking for ski season jobs. The resorts will generally look to hire staff members that at least have a basic understanding of conversational Spanish. Nevados de Chillian, with more than 1000 acres of skiable terrain and Ski Portillo, which is a similar sized resort both are two resorts south of the three valleys which you may want to consider when looking for jobs.

Most of the resorts in Chile will cater for locals heading out to get a break from city life in Santiago or for North Americans traveling down for some summer snow sports. It can be very hard to land a job in a ski resort in Chile, so you need to be patient and persistent. It is advisable to travel over with a reserve of pocket money in case it takes you a little while to land a positions.

The good news is that most of the resorts in chile are relatively inexpensive and it is possible to bus from one resort to another if you decide to continue your winter season adventure in a different part of the country.

What They Say...

"Chile is a great country and the people here are so friendly. It can be tough to land a job in some of the resorts put if you are hardworking and don't give up then there are certainly a number of options to allow you to fund a full ski season in Chile. One tip I would recommend is to try and learn as much Spanish as you can, this can be a big help!"

"Working a season in Chile is an amazing experience. The Andes are a beautiful mountain range and there are some great spots for both boarders and skiers. The resorts over here certainly are different than what most people may be used to in North America or Europe but there are certainly many options for finding a job for the winter season."
