Andorra may not be the first destination that comes to mind when you are researching ski season jobs in Europe, however this fun destination offers some great skiing and boarding, many fun resorts, varied terrain and cheap prices in resorts!
Andorra is a tiny country sandwiched in the Pyrenees Mountain, between France to the north and Spain to the south.
If you are heading to Andorra for a winter season job you will have to fly into one of the airports outside of the region then transfer by bus or train. One of the most popular options is to fly into Barcelona then get a shuttle bus or train to the region from here. This will generally take about two and a half hours but obviously depends on weather conditions and if there is snow on the ground in the mountains.
The most popular resort for ski jobs in Andorra is most probably Pas De La Casa. This resort is served by all of the main tour operators and offers a variety of jobs for winter season workers. The resort has over 70 miles of piste and is the highest resort in the region with the highest lift being located at 2640 meters. The resort also offers a good track record when it comes to snow fall with good amounts of snow almost guaranteed from December to May.
This is a lively resort which attracts a fun and laid back crowd so it is a great option if you want to avoid spending the winter season working in one of the stuck up resorts that you can find in other regions.
One of the other top resorts you will find in Andorra which offers ski season jobs is Soldeu el Tarter. This is slightly smaller than Pas De Le Casa but a link which connects the two resorts gives you access to both ski areas. This is another lively Andorran resort with great duty free shopping. There are all kinds of opportunities for seasonal jobs in this particular area and in addition to the tour operators that employ staff you will also find a whole host of local businesses looking to employ workers for the winter season.
The resort offers mixed terrain so you are likely to find something that you will enjoy whatever your ability. In general, working a season in Andorra will give you the opportunity to spend and extended period in a fun resort with a great atmosphere that doesn't break the budget. Sure it might not have the same reputation as Chamonix, Val Thorens, Les Deux Alpes or any of those other mega resorts but it does offer ample terrain for all levels, a laid back atmosphere and a great apres ski season which is fueled by the cheap drink prices offered in this duty free country.
What They Say...
"I have spent two seasons working in Andorra and loved every minute of it. Yes you might not have the crazy terrain you find in other resorts but the people here are so friendly and you don't have to deal with the high demanding customers which you will find in other more trendy resorts."
"Andorra rocks! Cheap booze, a great apres scene and some decent terrain. Andorra may only be a tiny country but the skiing it offers certainly is enjoyable. I have had a couple of different ski season jobs in Andorra and each of them have offered me a fun unique experience. Don't be put off by the fact that this region might not be as well-known as some other resorts in the Alps, it is a great destination and a fun place to spend a season."
